Visit our buildings
There has been a church building on our site for at least 700 years. In that time Thorley has seen many changes. A change in location following almost being wiped out by the plague. A change of focus as Bishop's Stortford grew until eventually it came to include Thorley. There are many stories to tell of God's faithfulness. Throughout each generation the people of St James' have consistently risen to the challenge of being the Parish Church for a diverse and changing community. To help us do that we currently look after 5 buildings; to provide us a home, as well as offering much needed community space for a number of different organisations. You can find more details on which of buildings are available to hire by reading below or contacting the Church Office.
St James Church
Our historic home - dating from the 13th century, with some architectural clues that bits may be a little older. We are helped hugely in the upkeep of our parish church and churchyard by the Friends of St James. You can visit their website by clicking the button below.
Our 9am service usually takes place in this building each week. You can catch up with our previous services in the 'On Demand' section of this site or join us live at 9am this Sunday by visiting live.stjamesthorley.church
